VIDYAGYAN, An Initiative for meritorious students of Uttarakhand from all walks of life the opportunity to receive a world-class education.

VidyaGyan is a part of the HCL/Shiv Nadar Foundation’s mission to create a more equitable, meritocracy-based society and empower individuals to bridge the socio-economic divide. The foundation aims to achieve this primarily by setting up outstanding educational institutions that provide meritorious students from all walks of life the opportunity to receive a world-class education;

Under the VidyaGyan initiative the Foundation has established two VidyaGyan Schools at Bulandshahr and Sitapur and providing excellent world class education to meritorious students from rural background covering all the districts of Uttar Pradesh. Each of the School are designed by one of the finest architects and spread over 25 acres. VidyaGyan Schools are fully residential schools and provide high quality school education to meritorious students from rural poor sections of the society, starting from classes VI to XII absolutely free of cost;

The students nurtured by VidyaGyan are unique given their firsthand experience of the problems like poverty, malnutrition, social exclusion, socio-economic deprivation and lack of quality education and have the mindset to combat it.

Vitamin A deficiency (VAD) is one of the leading causes of childhood blindness, malnutrition and child mortality across the world. This is due to insufficient nutritional food in the early years of their life, lack of education and awareness, poor sanitation and the inaccessibility of health services in far flung and remote corners of the world, including many parts of India.

Childhood blindness is preventable. And you can help make a difference. All it takes is a simple, inexpensive, and proven intervention – one high-dose vitamin A capsule, given twice a year to children 6-59 months of age.
